says to ALL: Being a Gypsie was not an advantage, at least not in the world. The advantages of being a Gypsy, however, were many. One of those advantages could be listed as street smarts. Having finally made it to Frisco, Utah, Swanley had planned on leaving his sister with the caravan on the outskirts of town but much like everything to do with his twin... nothing went as planned. Refusing to be left alone, the twins had agreed at Peregrin's exhortation to hide the caravan, take anything of real value with them, and ride into town to test the waters before the two of them rolled up like a Gorgers worst nightmare. Gorger's didn't take kindly to Gypsies showing up with caravans, usually, even if there -was- a reputed clan already in town.
Beaten finery clinging to their soiled skin, the twins looked like they were...weary pilgrims with a story to tell. Swanley had decided that his first stop was the hotel...he would get a room and a bath for his sister and hopefully while she was preoccupied with the finer things, he could finally get away from the woman. It wasn't that he didn't love her...no, their love and connection went deeper than Swanley had words for, they were twins...but he was ready to get a drink and from what he had seen of Utah so far, that was no environment for his sister. After all...Swanley was a proud Traveler man and his sister was not for public consumption. What his sister had to say on the matter, however, was a whole other beast entirely. Fingers tapping softly to some unseen song on the wood of the hotel's check in desk, Swanley would look around the building, trying to avoid Peregrin and her staring eyes that were trying to burn a hole through him. Unable to stand it for a second longer, Swanley would scowl and give her a look that would have had their Nanny trying to clean him of evil..."For lands sake, what is it, woman."

says to Law of the GypsiesSwanle: Perregrin had always been stubborn, she was never one to be left behind and especially not by her own twin. She had always thought things would be so much easier if she had been born a man. As it was, she was doing quite fine by herself, if Peri said so herself. Not that anyone was asking. No, she had been having to fight her twin for every breath she took for what seemed to be the last year. Life had been so much easier when she was married...but that wasn't an option any more. Her husband was dead. Her father was expired. Her twin, was the head of her household and even though he might have wanted to dump her on the doorstep of a cousin, Peri was going to make him deal with her! Like now.
Swanley's fingers wound dance over the wood making Perregrin long for the nights she had spent playing the fiddle for loved ones and not waiting for a room in some backwater hotel, but those days were long gone. Swallowing hard at Swanley's tone of voice, she would lift her chi and her eyes would narrow, returning his evil eye glare for glare. "Don't be sour, Swanley. I got what I wanted. Now that we're in town, you can confine me to a room like you long to do. I can see it in your eyes. You're goin out and women ain't invited."...with a heavy sigh, she would finally look away from him, fingers wrapping in the worse for wear shawl she was wearing. Tugging it in close, her red hair matched her twins like a set of wildfires in the hotel lobby. Bound in a braid, trying her best to keep it clean, she wasn't going to begrudge Swanley his sorrows or his liquor. She wanted to bathe more than he could guess...but she couldn't just let him leave. If she did, he'd wind up in a cell and Perregrin really would be alone in the west. "Just be smart, please. I don't want to see the wild in you."...it hadn't been out since the family started dropping like flies. Blood Feuds had a way of screwing with a persons personality, after all. Now that they had put their troubles behind them Perregrin was just waiting to see what type of brother Swanley would be.

says to Burn Candles For MePereg: Before Swanley could stop himself, his eyes were rolling so hard in his head he thought for a moment they might get stuck that way. His sigh was an exact echo of Peregrin's and after a moment he would give her his attention again. "You nae be worrying yourself about things that don't concern you, joovi. I'm going to go out, have a gab and a gadda...you're going to wash your hummel and everythings going ta be all right."...reaching out with an ink covered hand, he would take the end of Peregrin's braid and he would give it a tug before flicking the end against her nose. His tone was harsh, his words were pointed, but the affectionate touch said everything that Peregrin would need to know. Swanley wasn't at his breaking point yet and he wasn't going to leave her alone in the world. Things were going to be alright.
"I ain't gonna leave you to become a looverni, don't you worry. I might bed one though..."..knowing this would earn him a disgusted look from his twin, Swanley would grin despite himself, reaching into the pocket of his vest as he held it open, grabbing a bag and tossing it to Peri to catch. "here. I'll arrange for your room and bath. You can spend your time rolling me some of these in thanks. I ain't gonna get drunk and run in with the muskers. I just want some time alone. Been stuck with you in that wagon for too long."...His shoulders would roll and Swanley would stand up taller as the person who apparently ran the front desk, finally showed. Striking, well spoken...you could hardly fault the man for being a Gypsy if they all did it as good as he did. "A room and a bath for the lady, please..."...and the men would set to business, Peregrin left to eye the lobby of the hotel...Swanley could feel the apprehension rolling off of her. Part of him was sorry to leave her alone, but the other wasn't worried. Peri knew how to take care of herself after all, and Swanley didn't ask for much.

says to Law of the GypsiesSwanle: Her brother would settle her affairs, and when he moved to leave the hotel, Peri would follow. Trailing after him like a shadow...or maybe a sad puppy...he would reach the door of the hotel and Peregrin would follow him up until the edge of the porch. The man would stop, step off into the dirt street, and look over his shoulder at her with a raised eyebrow. For a second, Peregrin would sway like she was going to go right after him...but then she would nod, and tug her shawl around her shoulders again, delicate chin raised in permission not that Swanley ever sought Peregrins' permission on anything. He was the man, after all.
"I love you, Swanley. Don't bother coming home before you bathe. Find me some wardis, please. I hate being bored."...playing cards were something she could do alone, at least, Watching her brother walk off in the distance, her hand still wrapped around the bag he had tossed her, she would pull it open and look inside with a wrinkle of her nose. "Wonderful."...she hated rolling smokes, but Swanley was horrible at doing it himself. With a heavy sigh, she would look around the empty porch and wondered if she shouldn't just go and take her bath. After all...it did sound heavenly...but she was just too restless, and she wanted to enjoy it. What a waste of hot water, if she wasn't going to enjoy it. Instead she would stand there on the porch for a long moment...stranger in a strange land...not that that had ever bothered her Gypsy soul.
